Party Edition Post!

Hey y'all,

This seems to be working out well so far. We're working out kinks! But it's looking good. A few observations/thoughts before I launch into my tracks for the "week":
-I like what Stu did with posting up Com Truise's album, and I'm going to do it as well, when I feel something should be known. I'll try and do it sparingly, but I appreciate the album format as much as singles, and think that'd be cool to take advantage of.
-I ran out of space on my dropbox (because of another group I was in, which I subsequently left). So, for future reference, I think it will remove whatever you've uploaded if you go over your allowance...which makes sharing sad :(
-I don't think we should be sorry for loading a bunch, or a few (or no) tracks in a given week. We're all busy trying to live DJ lives (under the guises of various daytime alter-egos), so it follows that we may not have time to share our jamz digitally if we're too busy sharing them with people, live. In other words, shit happens - I know I'll probably be hella busy from this point on (I just got two jobs, and a possible third, once I figure out schedules for the other two) - and I feel we'll all be understanding of that. I appreciate getting a bunch of tracks from you guys, though, cos I know they'll be good. So no worries about bombarding. We'll just have to figure out Drop Box management at some point once we get too many. But that should be a little while, yet.

So, the jamz I've been on (in addition to those from last week - 'cos Falling Out, Music is Not Far, and Stevie Nicks are in heavy rotations, still) are more...high energy? Danceable? I'll let you be the judges....

Octa Octa (I think my track may be mislabeled) - Let Me See You
-A dope song my bro hipped me to. I don't really know how to describe it, but it makes me happy, and I LUUUUV the toms that come in about halfway through. The break ~2:13 is so nice and simple, but effective. I think it's a dope track to transition from 1-teens-ish tempo boogie stuff to more housey 120ish stuff. Yeerp

DUSHI!

Ian informed me of Dr. Gonzo. The Gonzo Anthem EP is ok...there's a western-ish bass-heavy title "anthem" track, and then another that hasn't made a huge impression. But Dushi is just really nice and atmospheric, kind of dark, and bass-heavy. YEAH. It's just a kinda fun track. It could potentially get peeps movin', if the feeling's right (to quote a freaking awesome track by 6th borough project).

Deep Inside - the UK Bass verion, a la Pearson Sound aka Ramadanman
Under his alter ego, Pearson Sound, Ramadanman takes this classic NY house track deep down inside itself and comes out with a more mysterious, spacey incarnation. Good stuff. It worked on a dancefloor here (I was not DJing), but people were really messed up at that point, and were dancing regardless. However, I'm a sucker for the original, and it's a remix that is unique/doesn't suck, so that's my nostalgia post.

Steal Drums (Julio Bashmore remix)

I can't say anything that will sum up my feelings for this. I was trying to look into Dirty Bird this past week after one of its artists (and a local, at that), J-Phlip, returned home to play on her U.S. touring. So, this was one EP I heard, and this track stood out. I've learned to check as many Julio Bashmore tracks and remixes as I can, and this was a time that paid off (it usually does, right Matt?). Once I got over the cheeziness of the steel drum part, this track is just incredible. It pulses, that's one of the best ways to put it. In the best way.

Behling - Without You
I was checkin out some stuff on Boomkat and came across the EP this is on. The rest was kinda...whatever. But, I thought this was kind of a nice "goodbye to summer" track. Also, I really like the combination of the slightly-Michael-Jackson-esque vocals with the super soft horns. Check it out.

Girl UNIT!!!! WUUUUT (Claude vonStroke Undressed Mix)

this track is just killer...that is all. Also, goes well with Ramadanman's "Work Them"

Finally, DJ Khaled's I'm On One (Sinjin Hawke remix)
My buddy Ian also got me on this. It's like a instrumental (I wish there were some vocal, at least a hook or something) juke mix of the beat from the original. DOPE. Good bass, too.

AAAAight, Also, I'm including Thudercat's The Golden Age of Apocalypse. If you haven't heard about him yet, he's the Bassist who's been working with FlyLo a bunch - on his last two albums - plus Erykah Badu and Shafiq Husayn (like that track I put on last week, Major Heavy!!!!!). He's dope, and I've been getting down to his album. You can read about it various places, and people have all kinds of lines to draw, like Roy Ayers, for one, and say it's "futuristic." But trust that it's good.
